The Dream is Real: Inside the Story of Jason, the Man Behind the Mic

by Kim Faines

Every successful brand has a voice. For Dream Select Realty, that voice is Jason – entrepreneur, marketing expert, real estate agent, and the host of "The Dream is Real" podcast. But what happens when the host becomes the guest? In a rare and candid episode, we got a chance to flip the script and put Jason in the hot seat to talk about his journey, his passions, and what drives him every day.

From Humble Beginnings on Long Island

Jason's story begins where many American dreams do: right at home. Raised on Long Island, he grew up in a family where stability came from trading hours for dollars. Entrepreneurship wasn't exactly a household word, but even as a kid, Jason knew he was built differently. Sales came naturally, and after trying his hand in finance, he found his footing in tech.

That tech background gave rise to a successful digital marketing agency, Design Me Marketing, which he's been running for nearly 14 years. Serving clients from local startups to global enterprises, Jason honed a skill that would later become his superpower in real estate: visibility.

A Serendipitous Connection

While running his firm out of an office in Bohemia, NY, Jason kept crossing paths with a guy named Lavar. What started as hallway greetings and fist bumps turned into deep conversations about business, branding, and real estate. Those conversations planted the seed that would become Dream Select Realty’s podcast, "The Dream is Real."

"We'd hang around after hours and just kick around ideas," Jason said. "From the podcast name to the concept, it all started right there."

Jumping into Real Estate

Why real estate? For Jason, it was about diversifying income and returning to his roots in service-based sales. "I've always been told I'd make a great real estate agent," he laughed. And he has.

What drew him in was more than the commissions or the contracts. It was the chance to help people during pivotal life moments. "Whether it's someone selling their home to start a new chapter or a first-time buyer getting their keys, being part of that is a privilege," Jason shared.

Real estate gave him a new outlet to serve people. And with Dream Select Realty's support system and collaborative culture, he hit the ground running.

The Challenge of Balancing It All

Running a digital agency, hosting a podcast, and selling real estate sounds like a lot—because it is. For Jason, the key challenge has been balance. "You're the turnkey," he explained. "You get out what you put in."

But once he's working with a client, they get 100% of his attention. He speaks passionately about the support Dream Select Realty offers: in-house experts, mortgage pros, title companies, credit repair advisors—a whole ecosystem designed to help agents and clients thrive.

Marketing Meets Real Estate

Jason's marketing background is his secret weapon. From SEO to AI tools like ChatGPT and Google Gemini, he understands how to leverage tech to make properties visible and agents shine.

"Marketing is all about visibility," Jason emphasized. "Most new agents think business will just come to them. It won't. You have to create opportunity."

At Dream Select, he's bringing that mindset to the whole team, running mastermind sessions to help other agents learn how to stand out online and build lasting brands.

From Car Sales to Real Service

One of Jason’s turning points came years ago in the car business. He was doing well but felt something was missing. A mentor named Terry gave him advice that changed everything: "Stop selling cars. Start helping people buy cars."

That mindset shift, from sales to service, transformed Jason’s career. He rose to be the number one Hyundai salesperson on the East Coast. More importantly, he built relationships that lasted. "Even people who didn’t buy from me would send referrals," he said.

That same servant-leader mindset drives his real estate work today.

The Power of Podcasting

Hosting "The Dream is Real" has given Jason access to a wide range of professionals, from mortgage lenders to home organizers. Each episode becomes a lesson, a tool in his toolbox.

"Every episode, I learn something new that helps me better serve my clients," he said. He mentioned one guest who shared creative ways to help people get financed when they thought it wasn’t possible. "I remember when I didn’t think I’d ever own a home. Those stories hit close to home."

The podcast has grown rapidly, reaching thousands of subscribers. But Jason believes its success lies in consistency and relevance. "We keep it real. We bring value every time. That’s how you build an audience."

Real Estate, Relevance, and the Road Ahead

Jason sees direct parallels between building a podcast and growing in real estate: "You can’t just show up. You need to stay relevant, stay visible, and keep creating value."

Whether it's promoting listings, helping sellers stand out, or educating buyers through digital content, he's using every tool in his marketing kit to elevate his clients and his team.

So, what's next?

In marketing, Jason's staying ahead of the AI curve, helping clients adapt to a rapidly changing landscape. In real estate, he's leaning into investment opportunities, eager to work with buyers looking to grow their portfolios.

"I want to help people find their first homes, yes," he said. "But I also want to guide them toward financial growth through real estate."

Surrounding Yourself with Greatness

Jason credits much of his growth to aligning with the right people. "You want to be around those who are ahead of you in certain areas," he said. "That’s how you learn. That’s how you grow."

At Dream Select, he found those people. Leaders like Lavar helped him level up, and now he's paying it forward.
